ABOUT ME

To create is to open a passage:
where emotion is born between the image and the gaze,
where the true encounter takes place.

BIOGRAPHY

Natacha Couvelaire was introduced to visual creation from early childhood, learning the fundamentals of silk painting, watercolor, gouache, and ink from accomplished artists. This early training shaped her vision, her sensitivity, and a taste for independent creation grounded in the mastery of gesture and the depth of materials.

Throughout her journey, she has drawn inspiration from Asian arts, oriental architectures, and the diversity of visual languages. Her images, emerging from a complex elaboration, layer light, movement, and symbols—offering the gaze new territories to explore, between abstraction and memory.

In the 2000s, she adopted digital creation as her principal medium, never using photography: each piece begins on a blank screen, conceived at actual scale, and is built entirely through composition, movement, and light.

In parallel, she has initiated and created, in collaboration with a leading Lyonnais silk house, more than fifty unique works printed on silk—at the crossroads of textile and art.

Today, she pursues her path as an independent artist, driven by a singular aesthetic and the search for new visual territories.

“ My creations don’t fit into any category. Neither painting, nor photography, nor design, nor abstraction: they are an uncharted territory. I offer a complete visual experience, a singular presence, a signature like no other. Those who live with my works know it well: you don’t own these pieces, you inhabit them.”

Inspiration & technique

What inspires me…

The emergence of an unknown territory, the creation of a world never before seen. Inspiration always springs from strangeness, from sudden appearance, from the desire to bring forth the unprecedented. To cross a threshold, to create a presence, and to leave an imprint of the unseen.

Her creative process…

  • A composition designed at its final scale: Each piece is created directly in its intended format, with no enlargement during printing.

  • No use of photography: Her process relies solely on composition and drawing, starting from a blank screen.

  • Guaranteed uniqueness: Each painting is printed as a single, one-of-a-kind piece and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
