ABOUT ME

To show is to open a gateway:
the place where image and gaze meet.

BIOGRAPHY

Introduced to visual creation from childhood by artists who taught her the fundamentals of silk painting, watercolor, and ink, Natacha Couvelaire forged her aesthetic through the mastery of gesture and the depth of materials. Her journey, nourished by Asian arts and Oriental architectures, led her to develop a complex visual language where light, movement, and symbols intertwine.

In the early 2000s, she chose the digital medium as a new field of exploration. This transition, marked by a major collaboration with a renowned Lyon silk maker on over fifty unique works, reflects her desire to position her practice at the crossroads of textile and fine art.

Today, her work develops immersive universes where light, movement, and ancient memories continue to unfold through matter. Her works are not merely observed, but entered and inhabited.

One of her core specialties lies in the creation of monumental and large-scale artworks—reaching up to 6 or 7 meters—designed to command expansive architectural spaces and offer a fully immersive experience.

Vision & Process

Artistic Intent

My work explores an archaeology of light in which images emerge through successive strata. Through the sedimentation of multiple translucent layers, I allow buried memories to surface, their construction evoking the technique of glazing. These unveilings give rise to a vibrant materiality where fragments of forgotten civilizations, architectures, and ancient worlds seem to persist.

Light acts here as an excavation. It reveals the survival of these vanished territories. I create immersive universes in which the gaze plunges through time. These presences, these traces that endure, whose echo draws us into a vertiginous shift, as though something within them had always been known to us.

The Gesture

  • Real-scale creation: Each artwork is created directly in its final format, without any enlargement during the printing process. This approach preserves the accuracy of proportions.

  • Process: No use of photography or artificial intelligence. The artwork is constructed through composition, sedimentation, and layers.

  • Uniqueness: Each work is a unique piece, printed on high-quality art supports and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
